The county government of Mombasa has embarked on promoting conference tourism in a bid to boost the industry. Speaking when he hosted members of Skål Kenya on Monday, the second term county boss said conferences will increase the numbers of tourists flocking to the Coastal city throughout the year. Joho said that the county will start bidding for conferences in order to market the tourist attraction sites of Mombasa.“We want to start bidding for these major conferences. We want to sell Mombasa not only as a tourism destination but also as a place where we can hold major conferences since we have the facilities,” said Joho, as quoted by the Standard.On his part, Skål Kenya chairman Silvester Mbandi said that the country has been given the privilege of hosting thousands of delegates from the international community in 2018.Mombasa will play host to over 1000 international delegates during the Skål congress in 2018.The 79th Congress is scheduled to run from October 17 to 21, 2018.
