Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho has called on Muslims countrywide to support Opposition coalition NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga during the forthcoming polls.
Speaking on Friday during an Iftar at Serani Grounds, the outspoken county chief accused the Jubilee adminstration of undermining Muslims, adding that President Uhuru Kenyatta does not have the religious group's interests at heart.
“This government, more than any other has persecuted Muslims. Until now, the whereabouts of some Muslim youths and sheikhs is not known and we Muslims are being treated like second class citizens,” he said.
“I have been tortured so much by the Uhuru Kenyatta government, but every time they put me down, I rise up because I believe only in God. I don’t fear any human being because they have the same life like me from God,” he added.
The governor has been a fierce critic of the Jubilee adminstration.
