Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, through the County Government of Mombasa, has provided 7,000 shopping vouchers to orphans within all the six sub-counties of Mombasa.The festive season in Mombasa was officially ushered in by lighting up of the Governor’s Christmas tree at Joho’s office, during the annual charity event that was organised by the county government in collaboration with the clergy. Through a Facebook post on Saturday, Governor Joho said that event is a tradition spanning over 20 years.“This is an annual charity event with a tradition that spans over 20 years. The Governor’s Christmas Tree Lighting event supports children from different orphanages across the county,” said Joho.The Governor urged Mombasa residents to show love to the less fortunate and share with the needy this festive season.“This Christmas season make sure you show love, spread cheer and share with the less fortunate. Mombasa has been a beacon of co-existence and cohesion, where people of all races, tribes, and religion have lived together for centuries,” he added.Joho took the opportunity to wish residents in the Coastal city a happy festive season on behalf of the County Government of Mombasa.
