The launch of MV Jambo Ferry on June 27 by President Uhuru Kenyatta may prove to be another flashpoint which will reignite the already tense relationship between him and Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho.

Speaking on Friday, the fiery Governor said he will not attend the event and will instead hold a parallel rally in Kisauni where he will reply to the “lies the President will be telling Likoni residents”, The Star reports."I will put my person there who will be streaming live and will be able to capture what Uhuru says," said Joho.He said he will not attend the launch because he is aware of Jubilee’s plan to send GSU officers to block him from accessing the event venue."They can decide who ever will attend or be blocked. But they won't see me there. I will hold a political rally in Kisauni and Mombasa and will be told the truth," he added, as quoted by the daily. The Governor has so far been barred from attending the last two events the President has presided over in the county, amid fears that he will engage him in a public spat.On March 13, he was blocked from attending the Mtongwe Ferry relaunch, a situation that was also witnessed on May 31, during the launch of the SGR train in Miritini.
