Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has dismissed Mutahi Ngunyi’s article on ‘How Uhuru can finish Raila politically’ as mere propaganda aimed at tarnishing the former prime minister’s name.
Joho said Jubilee had sensed defeat and has started using coyer means as early as now.
Addressing journalists on Monday during a county tour, Joho said Mutahi was just a State House mouth piece, and his sentiments were bringing unnecessary political tension in the country, something which the county boss termed as ill timed.
“We understand that Mutahi has been contracted to start shifting the political attention towards a given direction, but we want to say that we are a peace loving nation and only the ballot will have the final say,” said Joho.
The governor also called upon the inspector general, the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) and the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to probe Ngunyi’s remarks, terming them as hate speech that could divide the country along tribal lines.
“The inspector general, the DPP and the Ole Kaparo led commission should sermon Ngunyi to be interrogated for making such remarks while we are at the brink of an election,” said Joho.
Mutahi Ngunyi is also known for his tyranny of numbers philosophy that was used by the Jubilee government in the 2013 general elections.
