Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has warned politicians across the political divide against divisive politics as the country heads to the August 8 polls.Joho instead wants politicians eying different elective seats in the upcoming general election to preach peace in their campaigns.Speaking during an interview on KTN News on Wednesday, Joho appealed to politicians to desist from making statements that could cause disunity among Kenyans.The Mombasa governor urged political aspirants to put aside their differences and unite the country ahead of the August polls.“We (politicians) must focus on uniting the country even as we compete for political seats,” he said during the interview.The Governor also warned politicians against using young people to disrupt peace.He asked the police and other government agencies to take stern action against politicians who use young people to fuel chaos.Joho pledged to spearhead pace and unity across Mombasa ahead of the polls.Governor Joho at the same time exuded confidence of being re-elected.He said his administration has achieved key development projects, adding that he deserves to be re-elected. “I am not afraid of my competitors because I know my development track record speaks for itself,” he added.The Mombasa Governor however cautioned rivals against propaganda.He said propaganda is a threat to peace urging aspirants to focus on issue based campaigns.Senator Hassan Omar, Nyali MP Hezron Awiti and businessman Suleiman Shahbal are all seeking to unseat Joho.A recent survey by Trends and Insights for Africa showed that Joho enjoys 68 per cent of resident's support.
