Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has warned the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) against conducting an unfair election.

Speaking in Nyali on Thursday where he took the ODM campaigns, the firebrand Governor said as opposition, they will not accept anything short of a credible election."A lot is being said in the streets…that there are plans to rig elections. But we only demand free and fair elections. If you try to do something else, we are very alert," said the ODM deputy party leader.Joho's sentiment comes barely hours after NASA presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga alleged plans by the government to use police officers to rig the elections. In a press briefing on Thursday morning, Raila said he received the information from reliable sources within the named institutions.“The decision was made at a meeting held on June 23 where the officers work IDs were withdrawn and given the normal IDs…. I’m not just making wild allegations...some of the officers have talked to us…we have evidence and will provide it,” said Raila. The county boss also drummed up support for ODM senatorial candidate Mohamed Faki who did not attend the rally, saying he is the right man for the job and was ready to defend the rights of residents.
