The rivalry between Mombasa governor Hassan Joho and the government has majorly been characterized with uncontrolled verbal attacks.

Joho has been faulting Jubilee administration for failing to initiate own projects and using past regime’s investments for vote hunting. The Sultan also said that President Kenyatta was busy calling Worl-dbank-funded projects Jubilee’s. The two government chief denied Joho’s claims but the DP has admitted that there is nothing wrong with completing the “Nusu Mkate” projects.

"We are in the government and there is nothing wrong in completing projects that were started by our predecessors, ignore the propagandists," said Ruto.

Speaking during the launch of a government development portal, Ruto admitted the continuation of past projects but said it is the responsibility of the government of the day to ensure progress when they take over from another regime.

The most highlighted project is the Buxton footbridge that unearthed a high class rivalry between President Kenyatta and Governor Joho.

Joho accused Uhuru of lying to coastal residents about the funding as well as initiators of that project. This led to unwarranted political confrontations between the government and opposition. Joho’s security was withdrawn amid other barbaric displays.
