Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has reiterated that ODM leader Raila Odinga should be made NASA’s flag bearer in the August 8 polls.Speaking at a rally in Kibera on Sunday, Joho said the NASA co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Musalia Mudavadi (ANC) and FordKenya’s Moses Wetang’ula should pick Raila as the presidential candidate for the opposition to defeat Jubilee. The outspoken Governor said the former Prime Minister has the largest support base across the country, hence should be the one to face President Uhuru Kenyatta in the August general election.“We must be honest with ourselves. It is Raila who has the numbers. We will only beat President Uhuru if we have Raila as our flag-bearer,” said Joho, as quoted by the Standard. The Governor added: “With a lot of respect and humility, this country wants someone who has the numbers to send home the Jubilee government and that person is Raila Odinga.”Joho's utterances have not been received well by the other coalition partners who have accused the governor of creating a rift in the opposition alliance.“These miscalculated statements are causing the coalition to appear like a limping duck. With this, the coalition will soon face its sunset years,” said Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior.
