Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar has argued that the county's governor Ali Hassan Joho stands no chance of getting reelected during the forthcoming general elections.
Speaking on Thursday during a press briefing, the lawmaker argued that the outspoken governor's track record is poor enough to send him home.
“Mark my words: Joho will not be the Governor of Mombasa County on August 9, it is common knowledge in Mombasa, in the media and different stakeholders in this County know it too," Omar said
Joho is seeking reelection on an ODM party ticket.
He has been embroiled in a tussle over billboards with his rivals in the recent past, to which Omar responded that he does not need a billboard to beat Joho.
Omar argued that he has effectively articulated his agenda to the people and that he has the best manifesto.
"Our agenda is out there and we have the best manifesto. I will push the relevant agencies to act," he noted.
Omar is eyeing the county's top seat on a Wiper Party ticket.
The seat has also attracted the interest of businessman Suleiman Shabhal of Jubilee Party and Nyali MP Hezron Awiti of VDP.
