A Muslim cleric, who is also a Wiper Party member has said Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho will remain Coast region's Sultan.Hassan Sheikh Ali said Coast residents identify Joho as the region's kingpin and no amount of harassment from the national government will deter the county chief from rising politically."We are seeing issues concerning Governor Joho being pushed right left and centre," said Ali who is also the Wiper elections board chairman."The president and his cronies have literally taken over everything in Coast region and it is a shame. What Joho is saying is this, he is the Sultan and he wants Coast to be left alone for him."Joho has for the last four years been at loggerheads with the government over his constant criticism of the ruling regime. His troubles began when he told off President Uhuru Kenyatta in May 2013 during Uhuru's visit to the Coast over the Waitiki land resettlement plan.He had told the President to consider giving out the land to squatters for free. The president, however, rubbished the proposal.During his last altercation with the president, Uhuru openly told him that he will be dealt with ruthlessly.Joho's academic certificates are presently being investigated by the Ministry of Education over rumours that they could be fake.Coast Regional Commissioner Nelson Marwa recently told Joho to confine his political activities in Mombasa where he was elected.
