According to preliminary results on the IEBC portal, Joho has garnered 220, 576 votes (64.91%).

Jubilee’s Suleiman Shahbal is in second position with 69,322 votes (20.40%).

Wiper’s Hassan Omar and VDP’s Hezron Awiti are placed third and fourth with 43,672 votes (12.85%) and 4,686 votes (1.38%) respectively.

Joho on Friday raised concerns over the delays, and urged IEBC to expedite the process in a bid to allow him serve the electorate.

“Mombasa people have spoken. Let us be given the opportunity to serve residents. We need to go back to work and fulfill the many promises we made to locals during the campaign period,” said Joho.

The Governor, however, urged residents to remain calm and maintain peace as they wait for IEBC to finalise the verification process.

On her part, Mombasa returning officer Nancy Kariuki said they were still waiting for results from Nyali Constituency.

She, however, promised to issue the certificate by 2pm today (Saturday).

The senator and women rep candidates have not received their certificates either.
