An MP has claimed Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho does not wield control of the county's affairs.
Nyali MP Hezron Awiti said Joho's brother, Abu Joho calls the shots in the Coastal County.
"I stand by my claim," Awiti told SDE on Wednesday.
"Abu Joho runs this County with his brother Hassan Joho as his puppet. The people of Mombasa deserve better and that is the reason why am running."
Awiti is expected to challenge Mr Joho for the Mombasa gubernatorial seat in 2017.
The two politicians have had a frosty relationship since Mr Awiti announced his candidature for the Mombasa governor seat next year.
Awiti has constantly accused Joho of mismanaging the county resources.
Joho has maintained he will triumph against his opponents in the election and retain his seat as governor.
The governor is a close ally of ODM party leader Raila Odinga.
