Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho, on Tuesday, slammed the Jubilee government following the arrest and detention of self-proclaimed National Resistance Movement (NRM) General, Miguna Miguna.
Miguna was presented before Kajiado Law Courts following his arrest on Friday 2, over the controversial swearing-in of NASA leader Raila Odinga, after being detained in Kiambu County.
"I wish to add my voice and that of the coastal leadership to the current public debate on the illegal detention of Mr. Miguna Miguna. We strongly protest the failure to present him before a court of law as demanded by the presiding judge and our legal system," said Joho before Miguna was presented in court.
He noted that the move showed the prevailing lack of rule of law in Kenya.
"This speaks to the prevailing lack of the rule of law in Kenya. It is upon we Kenyans to think deeply about what kind of future we want for our children and posterity. What is right remains right regardless of any prevailing political circumstances," he added.
Miguna was deported from Kenya to Canada on Tuesday night after being arraigned in court.
The deportation came hours after High Court Judge Luka Kimaru barred the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Inspector General (IG) of the police from preferring any criminal charges against him.
