Dr William Kingi has expressed joy after the High Court of Mombasa affirmed the victory of his boss, Governor Hassan Ali Joho by dismissing an election petition filed by former gubernatorial candidate, Hassan Omar.
"We thank God for His grace that has seen us through this process," said the Deputy Governor.Lady Justice Lydia Achode meticulously laid bare the material facts of the case that rendered the petition as lacking in merit."
In as much as the court process was a slight distraction, we appreciate the right of every citizen to seek redress in a court of law and therefore our opponents were within their right to make their case," said the DG on Thursday.
Now that the matter has been determined, Kingi said they offer a platform to their opponents to come on board and join in their efforts of making Mombasa a better place for all.
"We couldn't have sailed through this process without our able lawyers Mohammed Balala and Paul Buti, your resilience is commendable. Special appreciation also goes out to all the people of Mombasa for standing with us throughout this process. This victory is yours."
