Deputy President William Ruto has lashed out at Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho for opposing the Jubilee administration plan to set up a dry port in Naivasha.

The DP said Joho's 'limited' education was the reason he was making allegations that the government intends to transfer all port services away from the coastal county.

“Your governor says the Jubilee government wants to move the port to Naivasha. How can a port be transferred to a place that does not have water? He is saying that because he has little education,” Daily Nation quoted Ruto.

Joho has persistently accused the government of creating an employment crisis in the Coast region by establishing a dry port away from Mombasa.

“We will not cease from opposing any move aimed at taking away port services from Mombasa to Naivasha,” the county boss told reporters recently.

However, Ruto rubbished off the claims saying Joho is an academic dwarf with questionable papers who cannot understand port's operations.

The DP made the remarks during a Jubilee Party campaign rally in Tudor Kisauni, Mombasa on Thursday.

He was accompanied by Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala and Jubilee Mombasa governor hopeful Suleiman Shahbal.

Ruto said plans to build the ports at Voi, Kisumu and other towns were at an advanced stage.
