Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has hailed his former Deputy Hazel Katana in what he termed as the spirit of handshake.

Speaking  on Saturday, Joho said that he appreciates the hard work and commitment shown by Katana before they parted ways.

“My sister Hazel Katana, you know I never thanked you for the time that you worked for us, the last five years. We appreciate you and thank you for coming by. This is the real spirit of building bridges,” he said.

He also thanked MP Mishi Mboko for burying the hatched with Katana despite her departure from Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

“And I like the fact that Mishi amesema mmesalimiana mkono,” he added.

The move by Katana to join the Jubilee side saw her attract fierce criticisms from the opposition leaders. Katana lamented of being frustrated by the governor.

Joho, who was among the strongest fiercest critics of the Jubilee regime, has since pledged to work with President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto. 

Joho and Uhuru have promised to forget their political differences for the sake of developing the region. 

Joho and Kingi were known for faulting the jubilee government for what they termed as sidelining of the region following the election into office.
