Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho on Saturday expressed his support for NASA Leader Raila Odinga following his unexpected meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday.
Joho however asked Odinga's co-principals Musalia Mudavadi, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula, to support Odinga especially after the meeting.
The trio said they were not consulted, briefed nor welcomed to the meeting at Harambee House.
According to Joho, it is in the interest of every Kenyan that the Kenyan project succeeds, saying: "As we come with a clean heart and open hands, please remember, an open hand cannot shake a clenched fist."
Joho told the three that it was time for peace and should stand by Odinga.
"To our coalition partners, there’s a time for peace and a time for war. This is the time for peace. Not all of us may have fought in the times of war, but all of us MUST fight for peace. The time for war has come and gone," said Joho.
In a statement, the ODM Deputy Party Leader reassured supporters that Odinga has always been right.
"To our party supporters, I wish to reassure you, our leadership has always been on the right side of history. As ODM, our faith in our leadership is resolute because it stands tried and tested. I also hereby pledge to be a joint custodian of all your concerns and interests," noted Joho.
