Governor Ali Hassan Joho says he has modeled his life around the example of courage shown by great men.
"I have modeled my life around the example of courage shown by great men throughout history," he said on Thursday citing the late Kenneth Matiba.
Speaking during the funeral service of the late multiparty politician, Joho urged Kenyans across the country to ensure spirit of unity and patriotism amongst themselves.
He made the remarks following forgiveness calls made by several speakers during the service at Kiharu Stadium, Murang'a county.
"In the spirit of national unity and forgiveness displayed today, I urge each and everyone of us to re-examine and look for the role we can play in national healing and building bridges," said Joho.
He eulogised Matiba saying he was instrumental in Kenya's 2nd liberation.
"The price he paid for this agitation came at a great personal cost but with great national benefit for this country. His life is a lesson in selflessness and patriotism," said Joho.
