The government has suspended passports of about 15 politicians affiliated to the opposition coalition (NASA) following the controversial swearing-in of NASA leader Raila Odinga on January 30.

Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho, James Orengo, Johnston Muthama, David Ndii and Jimy Wanjigi are among the officials whose passports were revoked to prevent them from leaving the country.

In a notice addressed to Ndii, the Director of Immigration Service Gordon Kihalangwa said the suspension was done in line with the Citizen and Immigration Act 2011.

He directed the economist to surrender his passport to the immigration offices at Nyayo House failure to which, the document would be declared null and void.

Joho is however yet to comment on the matter.
