Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho’s re-election bid has received a major boost after getting endorsement from members of the Luo community.
During a meeting held on Tuesday, members of the community promised to rally behind Joho and ensure he wins a second term in office.On his part, Joho thanked the community for its endorsement, adding that he was honoured to meet and share ideas with the members.“It is always an honour to meet and share ideas with my brothers and sisters from the Luo Community. I am humbled by their professional team's decision to endorse my gubernatorial candidature for a second term. Mombasa County boasts of its strength through the diversity of its people,” wrote Joho on his Facebook page.“The Luo and the coastal people have a similar long and tortuous history. We have shared difficulties and victories. We have cried and laughed together. Unfortunately the Kenyan project has not been very kind to us. Our sons and daughters have not felt the full benefit of independence,” he added.Joho further urged the community to rally behind NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga, and ensure his State House bid becomes a reality.He said a NASA government will ensure all communities in the county live harmoniously.
