Awiti came fourth after garnering 4,709 votes. Joho retained the seat after managing 221,177 votes. Jubilee Mombasa point man Suleiman Shahbal managed 69,515 votes while Wiper vocal activist Hassan Omar had 43,787.
“We will evaluate the work of every campaigner we employed,” Awiti of Vibrant Democratic Party ticket in told the Star on Phone.
The lawmaker also said that he is seeking answers as to why he was floored during the last general elections.
Awiti has said that he is going to take 90 days off starting next month to evaluate why he was floored in one of the most watched races at the county level.
The politician, however, said that he will not retire from politics after the loss, citing the case of former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga, who has lost Presidency four times ahead of the Supreme Court ruling.
“I will not surrender. How many times has Raila Odinga lost and he still fights? This was only my first loss,” he added.
