Mombasa gubernatorial aspirant Suleiman Shahbal has sounded a warning over drug trafficking, and called on the government to ensure the illegal business is stopped.

He proposed a tough penalty for all drug dealers, saying they should be hanged, after legal process finds them guilty.

He noted proceeds of such businesses should be confiscated by State, to sound a warning globally, that Kenya is a no drugs zone.

''I call on the government to urgently enact laws that makes sure drug barons are hanged and the proceeds of such trade confiscated by the State,'' he said.

This follows recent revelations, that some politicians in both government and Opposition, were drug dealers.

They included Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho, Kiambu's William Kabogo, Harun Mwau (former Assistant Minister), senator Mike Sonko (Nairobi) and Mary Wambui (Othaya MP).

''Mombasa is slowly turning into Pablo Escobar Gaviria’s Columbia, and as Mombasa people we will never allow this (Watch the series Narcos),'' the Mombasa businessman told journalists, Thursday.
