After his arrival from the US, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho on Sunday made a statement that now seems to cast a dark cloud over the National Super Alliance (NASA).In his address, Joho termed the Coastal region as an ODM zone, adding that they were set to begin vigorous campaigns to make Raila Odinga the coalition's presidential candidate."As you all know, Mombasa is an ODM zone. Our competitor is Jubilee and ODM candidates will win all seats in August. The others have no chance whatsoever," said Joho. The remarks did not settle well with Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar and Nyali MP Hezron Awiti who are both members of the Wiper Party and also seeking to topple Joho in the gubernatorial race.On Monday, the two politicians separately lashed out at Joho over his sentiments that Coast is pro-ODM alone."In Lamu, the governor is from UDF and Senator is Jubilee. Wiper won a number of seats in Lamu. In Tana River, we have a Wiper governor, Joho only won by 130,000 votes in 2013 against Wiper candidate's who garnered 94,000 votes," said Omar.On his part, Awiti laughed off Joho's sentiment."Tell him to wait and see, Let him wait for a shock of his life because he is going home, he should just go home," said Awiti. In a statement that further puts NASA's unity in disarray, Senator Omar said parties will field candidates for various seats in Mombasa, contrary to NASA's idea of holding joint nominations in their strongholds to achieve maximum wins. Will the statements by these leaders lead to the fall of NASA?
