Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya has advised five legislators from the county who ditched the Opposition for Jubilee Party to reconsider their decision ahead of the August polls.

Speaking on Tuesday when he received former Shinyalu MP Justus Kizito who ditched JubileeParty and re-joined ODM, Oparanya warned that the five lawmakers who are seeking re-election risk losing their seats if they do not rejoin the Opposition.

“I’m asking the five MPs to carefully weigh the political mood in Kakamega and stop engaging in a gamble that will backfire after the August polls,” the Daily Nation quoted the governor.

The five MPs include: Bernard Shinali (Ikolomani), Emmanuel Wangwe (Navakholo), Benjamin Washiali (Mumias East), David Were (Matungu) and Malulu Injendi (Malava).

The governor noted that the region was firmly behind Opposition alliance NASA.

Washiali, who is also Jubilee's key pointman has since ruled out a possibility of them rejoining the Opposition, saying their decision to join Jubilee is not a gamble.
