Jomvu MP Badi Twalib has expressed confidence in retaining his seat in the next general election.
His remarks come after one of his rivals, Karisa Nzai, on Saturday defected from Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party.Nzai, who is the Jomvu Ward MCA, was perceived as Twalib's greatest competitor until he ditched the Raila Odinga-led party.Twalib asked his constituents to re-elect him in a bid to give him a chance to complete the projects he had already started.Twalib is said to be Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho's close ally, despite being a Wiper member.Twalib termed Nzau's defection to Jubilee as political suicide since the Coast region is considered an opposition stronghold.Joho has urged Coast residents to ensure ODM defectors are sent home come August 8.
