Jomvu MP Badi Twalib has parted ways with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka ahead of the August polls.

His personal assistant Moffat Mutero defended the move saying the MP did not defect out of fear, adding that he will inform his supporters about his next move.

“For now just take it that Badi has resigned from Wiper, More to unfold,” he said, as quoted by Baraka FM.

Mutero downplayed claims that Twalib was afraid of losing to Mathias Shipeta during the party nominations, arguing that the MP stands a high chance of being given a direct ticket to defend his seat in the forthcoming general poll.

“Badi has been the deputy organizing secretary for Wiper party nationally and at all cost he had the chance to get direct nomination. So dig deep before posting shallow analysis,” added Mutero.

The MP's defection is likely to change the political situation in the constituency amid speculations that he intends to join Raila Odinga's Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

Twalib’s move comes at a time when both all the three parties forming the National Super Alliance( NASA) are holding rallies across the country to strengthen their support base.
