Riang’a recently claimed that a number of Royal Media’s Egesa FM presenters led by head of radio had approached him to solicit money in return for protection from incumbent MP Joel Onyancha.

But on Friday, celebrated presenter and head of Radio Nancy Omweri alias 'Nana' dismissed the allegations as ‘cooked propaganda’ aimed at tarnishing her name and reputation.

“I am deeply perplexed with cooked propaganda by Riang’a aimed at tarnishing my personality and character. The cheap claims that I solicited Sh200,000 from him as a token to give him mileage is untrue and misleading,” Omweri said.

“I have never met with Riang’a nor interacted with him in person. I only received a call from him sometimes back and asked for help from me to counter Mr. Onyancha whom he said was frustrating him,” added Omweri.

“I talked to him at length and he introduced himself as an aspiring MP. I had previously seen his abusive updates on Facebook and advised him to desist from abusing people and instead concentrate on selling his agenda. No time have ever asked money from him or from MP Onyancha,” she said.

She said the Egesa FM was guided by a code of conduct and could not allow its Journalists to solicit money from politicians for publicity and challenged Riang’a to table evidence.

“As Journalists, we invite people from all walks of life for interviews, but apparently, most leaders from Gusii never turn up because they fear being asked live questions by their electorates. We don’t ask for money unless it’s a commercial,” she said.

She accused Riang’a of threatening her through whatsap conversations after she drifted from his previous request of ‘media protection’.
