Kameme FM presenter, Njogu Njoroge has said he will vie for Njoro Parliamentary seat in the next year’s general elections.
Speaking at Njoro on Saturday, the vernacular radio presenter said that he has now come of age to contest for the seat.
“ In 2007, we went round with Joseph Kiuna where he said that I am young to take on politics and I lost to him. I have since become of age and I ask you to support me to serve you,” Njogu said.
He has been very supportive in his morning show at Kameme where he has been helping people raise money in support for the sick, poor, deceased and people who have incurred heavy losses. His latest bid in raising money is towards the help of Agnes Macharia whose bus was burnt during the chaotic anti-IEBC protests by the opposition coalition.
He said that he has been under pressure to vie a seat in Nairobi as he is much known there but he want to represent the people from his residence.
“Many have been telling me that I am more famous in Nairobi than at Njoro but I will feel comfortable representing the people from my backyard. I will come ward by ward soon seeking for your support,” Njogu added.
Political analysts say he may have an easy time convincing the locals since he has taken to the task the work of helping needy people regardless of the areas they come from.
The incumbent area MP, Joseph Kiuna has expressed his ambitions to retain the seat for the third time
