A K24 Cameraman was injured on Thursday while covering confrontations between hawkers and county askari’s in Eldoret town.
The confrontations begun as the county enforcement officers tried to flush out the hawkers who are operating within the town's center."Despite keeping a safe distance from the scene, one of the askari's spotted me and hunted me down with the aim of destroying my camera. I tried to escape but in vain," said Wanga at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) where he had gone to seek medical services."One of my hands was badly hurt in the process of protecting my camera which was their target, my two cameras were also damaged," he added.The Journalist asked the county government to take stern actions against the county askari who was involved in the incident.During the confrontations, more than 20 people we injured and several vehicles belonging to the Uasin Gishu County government damaged.
