Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has left many Nairobi residents talking after he chose a list of candidates he thinks can replace Polycarp Igathe as his deputy.
Sonko took to his Facebook account to release a list of probable candidates, who he asked his fans to vote for.
Among those he picked are Anne Kiguta, who is a journalist with the Royal Media Services.
Kiguta, who anchors late night news on the popular station, has never shown interest in politics, and her name was a shock to many.
Apart from the journalist, the governor picked on other candidates that many left wondering, who included the opposition NASA coalition.
Perhaps the most notable name is that of former gubernatorial candidate Miguna Miguna, who was deported to Canada last month.
He has also picked the current Nairobi County Women Rep Esther Passaris, who is in the opposition coalition of NASA.Another pick that left many wondering is that of Muhoho Kenyatta, who is President Kenyatta’s son.
The seat was left vacant after Igathe resigned, citing a bad working environment and relationship with his boss.
Other notable figures include;
Dennis Waweru - Former MP
Jimna Mbaru - current chairman Dyer & Blair investments
Prof. James Ole Kiyapi - former PS
Jomo Gecaga - statehouse
Hon. Simon Mbugua - former Kamkunji MP
