In a statement from the organisation, the rising incidents of insecurity in different parts of the country was posing a great threat to journalists working in those areas.

According to the KCA National Chairman William Janak, members of the association had expressed worry that the rising cases of insecurity were already putting a severe limit on access to information for journalists and was a threat to their safety and security.

“We wish to call on the national government to work closely with the county governments and other stakeholders to develop sustainable strategies to deal with the cases of security including the threat from Al-Shabaab and other criminal elements which may take advantage of this external threat,” said Janak

“The journalists noted that it had increasingly become dangerous for journalists to work in Baringo, Pokot, Turkana, Mandera, Garissa, Lamu, and Mombasa counties but said more areas prone to conflict or where security agencies and county government officials and other leaders were hostile to journalists were being monitored,” read the statement.
