Two journalists sustained serious injuries on Friday after being descended upon by Kakuzi guards.
The two journalists, Nation Media Group's James Mburu and Inooro FM's Julius Kariithi, were covering a demonstration that was being held by Gatitu Secondary School students.
Tens of guards who were waiting for the demonstrating students outside the company's office in Makuyu injured a form one student after hitting him on the face with a Rungu.
He sought medication at Makuyu Hospital where the two journalists were taken.
“They first cornered Kariithi and pushed him to the ground. They seriously beat him before a group of them turned to me,” said Mburu.
The land under conflict, locals say, belongs to the school and the company has no right to reclaim it.
“This land belongs to the school. The community should not be coerced to give it back to the company,” said Makuyu MCA John Kiarie.
