A section of journalists and politicians drawn from central region counties held a meeting in Kabete to forge the way forward on the fight against illicit brews.
The journalists who were drawn from Kiambu, Muranga, Embu, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Nakuru and Kirinyaga counties resolved to hold the first meeting this coming Saturday at Kirigiti.
Speaking after the meeting on Monday, Kabete MP Ferdinard Waititu appealed to residents of these counties to come out and show their support in the fight against the illicit brews.
"We must rise up now and say no to these poisonous concoctions that our youths have been taking in the name of alcohol. We must pray to God and say that enough is enough," said Waititu.
Waitutu led a crackdown on Sunday where he raided unlicensed bars in Kabete and poured illicit brew.
Waititu said that they will traverse all the counties in the central region in search of illicit brew dens and appealed to the county governments not to license anymore alcoholic outlets.
"This is the only way to go. Nacada campaign has failed. Our administrators and Police have failed us and we must fight for ourselves to save our children," added Waititu.
Other leaders who attended the meeting included Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko and nominated Senator Ben Njoroge.
The two senators promised to rally fellow senators to help win the fight against the illicit brews.
