Journalists had a hard time with the police on Thursday at Uhuru Park Nairobi during an anti-corruption protest.
The members of the Fourth Estate were not spared either as police lobbed teargas canisters and also used water spray to disperse the protestors who had convened at Uhuru Park's Freedom Corner in Nairobi.
The demo had been organised by activists led by Boniface Mwangi to add their voice to the alleged loss of Sh5 billion at Afya House.
"They should tell us why they are fighting the press. Everybody has the right to know what is happening, therefore, beating journalists will not help," said Charlene Mutali, a freelancer.
Another pressman, Patrick Vidija questioned the need for police to divert their attention to journalists at the event.
The protestors said they had planned a peaceful protest that would culminate with the presentation of a petition to President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House.
