A family in Bassi Central ward, Bobasi constituency could not hide its joy after Kisii County woman representative Janet Ong'era rescued their daughter by clearing her Sh 50,000 school fees balance.

The student, Violet Nyaboke Orina, a nursing student at the Kenya Medical Training College in Kisii, dropped out of school last year.

She narrated how she has been struggling to raise the amount in vain until Ms Ong'era came to her rescue.

"After what I went through, I now promise that I will work hard and improve my grades so that I be of help to other students who undergo the same problems in future," she said.

Her mother, Ms Jane Orina who is a tomato vendor and disabled said that she had prayed and hoped that one day she will get help.

According to her she has lived struggling to sell tomatoes with aim that she will one day get the money.

"For the last one year, I have tried to raise the money but in vain. I thank God that the woman representative decided to assist me," she said. 

Ms Orina lauded Ongera and urged other local leaders to help poor families educate their children inorder to transform lives of the young people.

Speaking to Hivisasa on phone, Ms Ong'era said that she was determined to change the lives of youths in the county for a better tomorrow.

 "It is my duty to ensure that every female living in Kisii County get what the require and that is what am exactly doing," she told Hivisasa on phone.
