A cancer survivor, Mr. John Arasa from Sungututa region in Kitutu Masaba constituency has a reason to smile after an aspiring area MP Mr. Victor Ogeto offered to pay his school fees till the completion of his education.
Mr. John Arasa has been fighting for his life in India where he lost one of his leg through amputation although he was recently declared cancer-free by a Mumbai hospital.
Ogeto paid the family a courtesy call on Monday and announced his plans to pay for the studies of the 22yrs old who is a second year nursing student student at Egerton University.
“It’s unfortunate that his life will not be the same but what’s important is that he has been declared cancer free (marrow cancer). I will be taking care of his school fees and personal expenses as he reports back to school in January because he is willing to continue with his studies,” Ogeto said.
He urged area residents to be proactive and visit health facilities for frequent screening to avert incidents of people knowing their conditions at advanced stage making it difficult for the situation to be salvaged.
He urged the county health sector to consider carrying out screening exercises in local areas to reach many residents who find it difficult to easily go to the Nyamira Level 5 Hospital.
