It was joy, song and dance for Machakos residents as Machakos County Deputy Governor Engineer Francis Maliti launched a food security program that will benefit the residents.
Through the program, farmers will receive free seedlings for planting and will also benefit from free agricultural tractor services.
"This is a move that is geared to curbing drought and increasing food production yields within Machakos County. Every farmer in Machakos will benefit from this program," said Maliti.
Maliti said that the services will be free and therefore any farmer willing to get the free seedlings and the agricultural tractor services is required to register at the County offices.
This will be the second time Machakos County is offering free seedlings for farmers, a move that has highly been welcome by the residents.
Maliti who was speaking in Machakos town and addressing the residents urged farmers in Machakos County to employ modern methods of farming for purposes of increasing food production in their farms.
