Taita Taveta Senator hopeful Joyce Lay has pledged to fight for the rights of residents if elected in the August 8 polls.
Lay said she will push for implementation of laws and policies that will empower locals and marginalized groups.
Speaking to journalists on Thursday, Lay urged locals to rally behind her election saying she will be a servant to them.
“My agenda if elected senator will be to draft and recommend for laws and policies that will change the economic lives of Taveta people and Kenyans at large,” she said as quoted by People Daily.
The Taita Taveta Women Rep said the county has not been fully represented in the senate, and pledged to push for allocation of more resources to the country government.
She said with more allocation, the county will be able to implement development projects and better the lives of residents.
Lay further cautioned locals against being swayed by politicians whose agenda is to spread propaganda and cause division.
She said time has come for Kenyans to vote for leaders who will champion development.
The ODM rebel MP also asked locals to maintain peace before, during and after the August 8 polls.
Lay is among Coast politicians who ditched the opposition to join President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party.
