The Judiciary Service Commission (JSC) has finally received petitions vouching for the removal of three Supreme Court judges after nullification of President Uhuru Kenyatta's victory in the August 8 polls.

Affected by the petition are Chief Justice David Maraga, Deputy CJ Philomena Mwilu and Justice Isaac Lenaola.

"We acknowledge receipt of the petitions...The same shall be tabled before the JSC for directions and consideration in accordance to law," said chief registrar Anne Amadi on Tuesday.

The petition against Maraga was filed by Nyeri MP Ngunjiri Wambugu over gross misconduct although he later said he had decided to drop it.

He said he put it on hold after President Uhuru Kenyatta asked him to quash it.

Another petitioner demanded that Mwilu and Lenaola be removed over alleged gross misconduct.

Executive director of Angaza Empowerment Network Derrick Ngumu accused the judges of breaching the JSC code of conduct during the proceedings for the presidential election petition.

"Lenaola and Mwilu met [NASA leaders] Moses Wetang'ula and James Orengo at Skyview apartments, Kileleshwa, on August 17 and 18 and the subject of discussion was the presidential petition," Ngumu said in the petition filed on Monday.
