The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has proposed for appointment High Court Judge Isaac Lenaola to replace retired Philip Tunoi at the Supreme Court.

Lenaola overcame stiff competition from Rose Nambuye, Martha Koome, Mbogholi Msagha, Agnes Murgor, Alnashir Visram, Wanjiru Karanja, Kiplangat Sergon, Erastus Githinji and Luka Kimaru.

“The JSC has after lengthy deliberations recommended Hon Mr Justice Isaac Lenaola, for appointment as Judge of the Supreme Court of Kenya and has submitted his name to his Excellency the President,” JSC said in a brief statement.

Justice Lenaola began his education at St Mary’s Nursery School in Maralal in 1973 from where he joined Maralal DEB Primary School and then Baragoi Primary School where he sat his CPE exams.

He later joined Alliance High School for the O-Level and A-level studies and was awarded the Gandhi Smarak Nidhi Award which was the then best possible accomplishment in A-Levels in Kenya.

He joined the University of Nairobi for his LLB (Bachelors of Law) degree in 1987 from where he graduated with a Second Class Upper in 1990.

He joined the Kenya School of Law in 1990 and a year later he joined the bar.
