The Kenya Jua Kali industry is lagging behind in international exhibitions, Executive Director of Egypt- Kenya International Exhibition EGYKEN, Wycliffe Indiazi has said.
Speaking from the India Pakistan exhibition being held at the Aga Khan hall in Kisumu on Thursday, Indiazi said that other than tea and curries, Kenya has got fewer goods to display in the international exhibition.
“We have been holding seven trade shows in different countries annually in partnership with the middle east countries,” said Indiazi.
He added that their main aim of holding the international exhibition in Kisumu was to encourage residents of the county to participate in the business exhibitions to boost their sales.
Indiazi further added that the prices of the items displayed during the exhibition were fair but the prices shoot up the moment they enter the market.
The items available at the exhibition range from handmade furniture, clothes, jewellery, kitchen wear and leather products.
The exhibition which began today will last for nine days.
