The association members who operate various small scale businesses among them Carpentry, Welding and Small hotels, are complaining of serious losses as a result of sewage water and poorly disposed wastes posing a health hazard.

Speaking in Kisii, the Chairperson of the Association Zipporah Michieka, said sewage water has eroded the area around their premises, making it dangerous for the residents.

Michieka further asked the Kisii County Government through the Ministry of Lands Housing and Urban Development to put up lighting structures for their security.

“I am asking the county government to help repair this menace because it is causing a lot of erosion around, which has gone to the extent of moving a sewage main hall that is on the ground. I want to ask our Governor James Ongwae to build a trench from Jua Kali to Daraja Mbili and help the sewage main hall not to fall as soon as possible,” said Michieka.

She also noted that they are at a health risk due to a high presence of mosquito and lack of fresh air within their surroundings.
