Supporters of Uasin Gishu Woman Representative Gladys Boss Shollei on Tuesday took to the streets of Eldoret town to celebrate the termination of the abuse of office charges she was facing.
The elated supporters carrying twigs and Shollei's banners walked around the town singing songs of celebrations.
They later addressed the press where they called for the compensation of the former Judiciary registrar.
"Today as residents of Uasin Gishu County we are very happy that our leader has been acquitted of the charges she was facing. We know those charges were used to kick her out of the Judiciary but we thank God justice has finally been served," said Hezekiah Kosgey who was Shollei's campaign manager.
"Now that she has no case to answer we demand that the government pays her compensation for denting her image through the false allegations which the courts have absolved her from any wrongdoing," he added.
A Nairobi court acquitted Shollei and six others who were facing graft and abuse of office charges.
The seven were accused of irregularly purchasing a house worth sh310 million for the former Chief Justice, Dr Willy Mutunga.
