The Jubilee Party will not use its smart cards to verify registered members during party primaries.
The party’s National Elections Board (NEB) vice chair Esther Kangogo said they will use their register in the primaries to be held in April.
Kangogo was speaking at the Murang’a Teachers College on Tuesday, during the selection of members of the county elections board.
Only those in the Jubilee party register will be allowed to participate in the nominations. The registration process is ongoing.
“We will provide a list of all registered members in every polling station on the nomination day,” she said.
Most aspirants seeking JP tickets were hoping the party will use the IEBC register since many voters do not have the smart cards.
So far, 7.5 million people have acquired the Jubilee smart cards.
Jubilee will carry out the nominations in polling stations registered by electoral body IEBC.
Kangogo warned aspirants and supporters planning to cause chaos in the primaries of dire consequences, including their names being forwarded to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
The party is yet to announce official dates for the nomination exercise.
A fierce contest is expected in Nairobi County, where Senator Mike Sonko and former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth will face off at the ballot for the Jubilee ticket to vie for Nairobi governor post.
