A day after opposition CORD held a major rally in Nairobi in solidarity with teachers over the ongoing strike, a section of Jubilee leaders have accused them of lacking ideas that could help the government find ways of solving the escalating crisis.
On Wednesday, CORD marshaled its supporters to pile pressure on the government to pay striking teachers who have been out of school since the schools reopened early September leading to indefinite closure of institutions by the government.
Led by TNA Secretary for the Youth John Mokaya at Kisii Hotel on Thursday, they accused opposition of ridiculing the government of the day without giving alternatives.
“Kenyans should be worried of the incompetent opposition. They lack ideas that can help the government solve some issues. They are treating the issue casually without coming with concrete lasting solutions to the stalemate,” Mokaya said.
They blamed the opposition for ‘inciting’ the public and urged the government to be strict on allowing them hold rallies that could destabilise the country.
“The government is being too lenient. If they give the opposition opportunity to hold rallies, then our country is heading to a wrong direction. We need to see an opposition that gives alternatives instead of inciting the public against the government,” he added.
They labeled CORD’s step to start a contribution via MPesa as ‘ridicule’ since it was only a short term solution.
“The issue of contributing is laughable because I don’t know how long they gonna do it. That is only a short term solution which is not welcome,” said assistant secretary James Gichana.
