Police in Gesima were forced to fire several times on air to disperse angry NASA supporters who descended on a Jubilee agent.
The mid lunch incident happened at Ritibo polling station is among the few reported so far in the ongoing voting process.
Trouble started when an agent identified as Samuel was caught paying locals to cast votes contrary to election laws few meters from the polling centre.
“It is true that NASA supporters beat him until police rushed to his rescue. It is one of the few isolated cases across the constituency,” said Chief Bosire Sambu.
“We had made it clear that bribery is not acceptable and I urge locals to abide by that. We must ensure there is sanity in electoral matters,” he added.
On Monday, a group of NASA aspirants selected from Nyamira had warned that they will not allow incidents of voter bribery.
Also, Jubilee Secretariat had cautioned its members against voter bribery adding that the party will not hesitate to take disciplinary actions against offenders.
