The National Super Alliance (Nasa) deputy presidential candidate Kalonzo Musyoka claims that Jubilee Party is buying National Identity cards from their supporters.

Kalonzo accused the party, led by President Uhuru Kenyatta, of planning to rig the August 8 elections in Lower Eastern region.

“Our attention has been drawn to extremely worrying incidents where Jubilee agents have been buying identity cards from the NASA stronghold of Lower Eastern region with the intention of rigging the August 8th General Elections,” the Wiper leader said in a press statement on Thursday.

The former vice president alleged that the agents have been going round asking to be furnished with details of IDs of the residents -- and particularly of the senior citizens -- while promising them financial assistance from the Government but with the intention of disenfranchising them from their right to make vote for the candidates of their choice.

“This is happening with full knowledge and connivance with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission,” he claimed.

Early this week, Kibwezi West Wiper parliamentary aspirant James Mbaluka was called by one of his assistants and told that “people are voting”, said Kalonzo.

He added, “Alarmed, he rushed there, only to find that the Ministry of Social Service was purportedly registering elderly citizens with the promise that they would be paid some money in six months.”

The Nasa principal said that after the details of these citizens were taken with the said gadgets, the names of the voters were transferred from their voting stations to other far flung areas.

“For example, one Josephine Ndila Kalondu, ID. No. 28029441, had been registered at Ngukuni primary school in Makindu Ward Kibwezi West, Makueni County. After her details were taken by these agents, she has since been transferred to Muchatha primary school, Muchatha ward, Kiambu,” he said.

Kalonzo said Jubilee was planning to use extra ballot papers to cast votes in their favour.

“This is a nefarious scheme that involves the IEBC, the NIS and the Provincial Administration and is meant deny Kenyans of their right to vote, while rigging in an unpopular Jubilee regime,” he claimed.

He called for vigilance in all the NASA strongholds, urging opposition supporters to be extremely vigilant and even be ready to execute citizen arrests against those involved.
