A number of Jubilee Party agents in Mombasa County have landed in trouble after failing to turn out in their respective polling stations during today’s (Thursday) repeat presidential election.

Speaking to journalists after casting his vote at PHD Mwembe Tayari, Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala expressed his disappointment over the move by the agents to boycott their duties.

The CS said the agents were a disappointment to the part considering they had already received their pay.

Balala, who is also the Jubilee Party campaign coordinator in the Coast region further noted that legal action will be taken against the agents.

“The agents did not show up in a few polling stations. This is a problem of dishonesty. But we are going to take legal action against the agents who did not show up. I want to warn them that as Jubilee Party, we are going to deal with them,” said Balala.

According to Balala, the most affected areas were Mvita and Kisauni constituencies.

The party has been forced to recruit new agents following the incident.

Balala, however, pointed an accusing finger at opposition leaders, claiming that NASA had threatened the agents.

The CS decried low voter turn out in the county urged residents to turn out and vote.

“We have seen in the morning the turnout was low. Some people, especially women and the elderly fear to come out to vote. I encourage voters to come out to exercise their democratic right,” said Balala.
