A section of leaders form both the Jubilee Party and the NASA coalition leaders have agreed that there needs to be consensus on the election date from all stakeholders.

Led by Senate Speaker Kithure Kindiki, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua and Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana have asked the two coalitions to find a solution to the election date that has had man uncertainties.

Speaking on Saturday when the leaders had a rare opportunity to share a platform during a funeral of former Mwingi North John Munuve’e mother, the leaders were in agreement that it can only be resolved with the leaders to sit together.

The NASA coalition has laid bare demands that need to be met for it to participate in the October polls, failure to which, will withdraw from the polls.

“A decision has already been made by the Supreme Court, we may not agree with it but let us respect it and we vote in a fair process, whoever wins the country moves forwared,” said Kindiki.

Kibwana on the other hand said it is time for the leaders to sit down and find an amicable solution.

“They should sit togeither, and tell us how we will sort out the issues arising and we conduct an election, Ruto and Kalonzo should sit down and we agree as Kenyans,” said Kibwana.

The two coalitions have been at loggerheads on the date and even bodies in charge of the electoral process, with Kenyans calling for an amicable solution to the impasse as well.
